Bridging AI and
Next-Gen Networks.

Dr. Iacovos Ioannou is a renowned computer scientist with an illustrious academic background and over two decades of IT industry experience. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus (2021), an MSc in Advanced Technologies in Informatics and Computers from the Open University of Cyprus (2016), and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus (2005). He is currently an Assistant Professor at Philips University, Cyprus, and a Senior Researcher at the CYENS Centre of Excellence.

His research focuses on 5G/6G and beyond wireless networks, Distributed Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT security, D2D communication, localization, smart grid management, and edge/fog computing. His PhD was pivotal in pioneering a distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) framework tailored for 5G/6G communication. He has authored a book on Distributed AI for 5G/6G Communications published by CRC Press (2024).

He has accumulated 700+ Google Scholar citations and an h-index of 15, with 97+ peer-reviewed publications in leading venues including IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE IoT Journal, Elsevier Computer Networks, and Computer Communications. He is an IEEE Senior Member and serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Networking Letters.

Beyond research, his extensive industry experience spans roles as a software developer, IT administrator, and GIS programmer at prestigious institutions including PrimeTel, Cyprus Stock Exchange, and the Land and Survey Department. His proficiency extends across a vast array of technologies from SharePoint, Java, Spring, Docker, and cloud platforms to advanced database systems. He has been instrumental in teaching at institutions like Ledra College, University of Cyprus, UCLan, and European University Cyprus.
